The short version
Midi CoPilot does not ask you to create an account, does not show ads, and does not track you. Your cues, faders and presets stay on your own devices and Macs. We only receive information when you choose to send it to us.
Who we are
Midi CoPilot and Midi CoPilot Link are made by Ryan Clark ("we", "us"). Questions about this policy: support@midicopilot.com.
What stays on your devices
Your show (cue names, colours, MIDI messages, folders, faders, presets), your device name, your logo and your settings are stored on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. When you connect devices to a Link, they share this show information directly with each other over your own local network or cable. It does not pass through our servers.
Permissions the apps ask for
- Local Network: to find and connect to Midi CoPilot Link on your Mac.
- Bluetooth: only if you choose to send MIDI over Bluetooth.
- Camera: only to scan a Link invite QR code. Images are not saved or sent anywhere.
- Photos: only if you choose a logo to show in the app. The image stays on your device.
- Accessibility (Mac): only if you use keystroke cues, so the Link can press keys in another app on your Mac.
Purchases
In-app purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple. We do not see your payment details. Apple tells the app which plan you have, and the app can pass that proof of purchase to your Link to unlock its features.
If you buy a licence on midicopilot.com, the purchase is handled by our store provider, which acts as the seller and collects the details needed to take payment and charge sales tax. We receive your name, email address, what you bought and your licence key, so we can provide the licence and support.
Sending shows to a Link remotely
If you use Drop to Link, the preset you send is stored temporarily on our server so the Link it is addressed to can collect it. It is deleted as soon as it is delivered, or after 7 days at the latest. We keep only what is needed to deliver it and to prevent abuse: the Link's drop code, the sending device's ID and name, and the time.
Owners and Teams features
If you set up an organisation and allow Owners to reach your Links from anywhere, each Link sends our server a status update (which devices are connected, its settings and presets) and collects changes an Owner makes. These are sealed with your organisation's own key before they leave your devices, so our server stores and passes them along but cannot read or alter them. A status is replaced each time a new one arrives, and undelivered changes are deleted after one hour.
When an Owner adds a Mac with Add a Link, the two devices exchange a one-time key through our server for up to 15 minutes. What they send is sealed so that only the new Mac can open it, and it is deleted when the pairing ends.
Diagnostics
The apps keep a short log of connection events on your device. It is only shared if you tap "Copy diagnostics" and send it to us yourself, for example in TestFlight feedback or an email.

Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
